Oracle has announced the availability of Java 17 for Oracle Solaris 11.4 on SPARC. This is a Long‑Term Support (LTS) release, enabling customers to run modern Java workloads securely and efficiently on SPARC. Since Ambience/Repertoire 2024.x can be run on Java 17, customers on SPARC can now plan their migration from older Ambience/Repertoire versions.
Note: Using the Oracle JDK 17 binaries requires an active Oracle subscription for Production environments. Partners should ensure they have the appropriate licensing before proceeding.
Recommendations for Customers on SPARC
- Begin UAT testing early to validate Ambience/Repertoire 2024.x with Java 17.
- Monitor CPU/memory utilization during report rendering to fine‑tune engine allocation.
- Engage your Solaris support if assistance is needed in regard to fine-tuning JVM arguments.
